Reverse Engineering Nature towards Programing Protein Molecules

The fundamental question driving our work is how protein sequence encodes specific structure. We are interested in just about everything having to do with this: how to understand sequence-to-structure mapping, how to predict structure from sequence, and how to model this mapping well enough to enable the robust design of novel proteins with desired functions. We employ a cycle between computational modeling and prediction (using either first-principles or empirical approaches) and experimental measurement and validation to study these problems.
